lost sound

I havea Dell 9100 w/ pent D onboard sound. It is a sigmatel device. I accidentally unplugged the jack while dusting and heard an awful noise. When i plugged it back in, there was no sound. The speakers do work and I have tried to use earphones on the front and back jacks to see if I can get any sound. No such luck. Any suggestions?

That doesn't sound good.

Try removing audio drivers from Add and Remove software than going into your BIOS and disabling onboard audio. Let windows come up. Reboot. Reboot again and enable onboard audio. Re-install audio drivers.

It's probably best to go to Dell's support site and download the latest audio drivers and save to your hard drive before you do this. http://support.dell.com/support/down...&catid=&impid=
