Re: PC - Home Theater
What is your home theater? That term can encompass a lot of different things.
So are you saying that you want to use your computers speakers instead of your receiver/home theater? Not sure, exactly, what your question is here. Do you not have a 7.1 surround sound system for your computer and you need advice on what hardware to get? How are you hooking up your computer to your home theater right now? Also, please post the sytem specifications of your computer. Make/model #, or if it is a custom build, motherboard, processor, ram, power supply and graphics card. Thanks Pauldo |

Re: PC - Home Theater
Thnks for responding...
I'm sorry...i'm from malaysia...n have a lil bit problem with english grammar...^_^... It was a custom built pc...these are the spec... 1. GIGABYTE GA EP45-UD3R M/board 2. GIGABYTE GeForce 9800GTX+1GB 3. 2x SEAGATE 500GB/7200/32MB SATA Hard disk 4. GIGABYTE PCI TV Tuner Card 5. 8GB RAM And currently i'm using Sony Home Theater System DAV-DZ7T Hmm...i dun know what my sound card is...may be its built in with the m/board... Right now, i do connect my pc and hear music through the home theater...but not satisfied with the sound quality. I'm just using the normal audio jack with the ordinary pc speaker cable. What i'm trying to think, is there any specific cable for pc which support surround audio through home theater...coz what i hear right now, only left n right(h.theater) speakers working. another 3 speakers are not working. I'm sorry if it sound stupid, but i just got this kind of hobby n need guide. Thanks for ur attention. |

Re: PC - Home Theater
No problem on the grammer. I figured as much and no question is stupid.
![]() Both your motherboard (which has pretty decent onboard sound) and Sony Home Theater have support for SPDIF. All you need is the right cable and I think you will be surprised at how good everything will sound. Get a coaxial spdif cable as it may be cheaper than optical (you have support for both). You will need to enable SPDIF in your audio software. It appears you have two possibilities here. Either Realtek or Sound Blaster. If you don't have anything in the systray, look in Control Panel. Hope that helps. Pauldo |

Re: PC - Home Theater
Thanks again.
So all i need i coaxial spdif cable. I'll try looking for it. The audio system my pc currently use is realtek. I'll get the cable first and try it on. Thank you so much for helping. The next question i think is, after i have the cable, i'm not sure i know to to plug it or not...so i'll keep this question for a while. Thank you so much again. ^_^ |
