Music/Sound crashing after skipping
My problem concerns to what i think, is the sound card. Recently i have been using various media players to play music and etc. After "X" amount of time, it begins to repeat for about 5 minutes and freeze the computer (with winamp/wmp/creative player). i took precautions that it would be my sound card, and i updated the drivers and put the factory software on my computer. I also use a microphone/headset combo connected to the USB on my computer regularly with Ventrilo, so some of the sound settings are for the headset and my speakers. If anyone has any suggestions to whether it be the sound card ie. hardware or some software problem with vista (and yes my sound card, Creative-SB-X-fi is compatible with vista) i would be thrilled to hear them.

Re: Music/Sound crashing after skipping
Have you installed any codec paks recently? Too many and they can conflict.
I would try re-installing the chipset drivers for your motherboard. Then re-install audio drivers. Update graphics card drivers. How did you update your audio drivers? I have seen problems with a Windows update. Post some system specs (including what version of the X-Fi you have) and I can dig around some more. Pauldo |

intel quad core q9550 2.83ghz
4 gigs ram vista home premium nvidia 9800 gtx+ Creative SB x-fi xtremegamer i have not installed any codecs recently, and from what i have been looking at from other forums is that this particular sound card conflicts with vista in some way, but when i checked on the microsoft site it said it was fine. I'l try re installing the drivers and what not to see if that will help. |
