[SOLVED] Audigy2

I have the creative labs Audigy 2 sound card in my PC. Every time the PC is restarted I get that wonderful CT Helper application has encountered a problem and needs to close. I know it's related to the created software. I have the disk but every time I install it it gives me grief and I barely get through the install. Went right to Creatives site and not only did their new driver not install, it seemed as if it was trying to corrupt my system.

I've read it can be un-installed but you lose some card functions like 5.1 sound(which I have). Should I just remove it and see what happens? I guess since I have the OEM disk I'm somewhat safe. Just wondering if anyone here has dealt with this issue. Thanks.

That's a good point and no I didn't turn off bitdefender anti-virus first. I guess when you're installing reputable software from a reputable provider you're fine. I'll try that and let you know how it goes. Thanks.

I disabled the virus protection first and sure enough the download was successful. It gave me some grief along the way as I just generally get beat up by creative software for some reason. All is good though as the new software is 2008 and it's radically improved. Thanks much for the advice.
