Strange Audio Problem

I'm not sure why but all of the sudden, after I had restarted my computer, I noticed that only the right audio channel was working. (When I went to test the speakers, the left channel made no sound and the right channel, oddly enough, came out of the left speaker.)

Whats stranger is that when I plugged headphones into my speaker, just the opposite happened! The left side worked, but not the right. To top it all off, when I plugged my headphones into the front panel jack on my computer and tested the sound, the left channel would come out of the headphones, and the right would come out the speaker!

I have no idea how to fix this, I've tried the speakers and headphones on my mp3 player and they work fine. I've tried installing new drivers, and I've tried doing a system restore, but to no avail.

The only conclusion I can come to is that it must be a problem with my sound card, but I'd really like a second opinion before buying a new one.

Re: Strange Audio Problem

Did this happen after a Windows Update?

Sometimes these things can be fixed by uninstalling than re-installing the sound card drivers.

If you have integrated audio than you might need to re-install your chipset drivers first before re-installing you audio drivers.
