Can someone tell me how to fix my audio? I've tried what the "Sound Problems? Try These Things First." forum but nothing worked. I'm wondering if it's just a motherboard malfunction. It's not the actual speaker or the wire because it worked with my I-Pod. Is there any thing I can do(Not what "Sound Problems? Try These Things First." forum said)?

Re: "No Audio Devices" Problem!
What's the problem?
Soundmax has it's share of problems some of which are fixed by newer drivers and Dell is notorious for shipping out new computers with really old sound drivers. Have you checked to see if you have the latest? And was that 4 Gig of memory or something else? Pauldo |

Re: "No Audio Devices" Problem!
Ok?
Can you explain what the problem is? I understand that you are probably at your wits end with this but it is terribly difficult to troubleshoot if you don't explain what is going on. It would help to know when this started happening, were there any Windows updates that just occured? Speaking of Windows update, I had a computer (still do, but I'm using a pci soundcard now) that would lose audio after every Windows update. Most annoying. The fix was to re-install the chipset drivers first than re-install the integrated sound drivers. I occasionally had to uninstall both to get it to work. Pauldo |

Re: "No Audio Devices" Problem!
I haven't done windows update in a long time and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling every device that has to do with the sound driver and the speakers. The actual speakers work though because they work with my I-Pod.

Re: "No Audio Devices" Problem!
I will assume that you have no sound at all. Is that right?
I know you said that you have gone thru the sticky posted on Sound Cards forum but I just want to make sure that you have checked to make sure that it is the default audio device in Control Panel >> Sounds and Audio Devices. Soundmax requires DirectX 9 to be working properly. Sometimes it can get corrupted. Might be worthwhile to re-install it. You can download it here. If that doesn't work than I would recommend re-installing the chipset drivers than re-install soundmax drivers and we can take it from there. Let us know how it goes. Pauldo |
