Hey guys, I'm new here
![]() I got this new PC almost 2 months ago, and still haven't got the mic working. My sound card is creative sound blaster X-Fi Extreme Audio and my system is running on Vista Home 64. My sound card doesn't have the pink socket we normally use mic in for. Instead it has blue, orange, grey and green. The people at the PC shop told me I must use the blue one for the mic and to make sure "digital output only" in settings would be off. I tried it and still I got no luck. It works when I plug the mic in the cases pink socket in front, but it gives me very low sound. My software is the latest version and I have tried 2 mics which work fine on my old XP machine. Thanks for reading.

Re: Microphone not working!
The blue port is indeed the line in, so you will be plugging your mic into that one. If the drivers don't work check to see that your mic isn't muted in your sound settings (ctrl panel -> sound & audio devices -> Volume tab. Check the Advanced settings for the mic and see if its muted. Also, check the volume settings for your mic in the voice or audio tabs and make sure you have the correct option selected for your mic. You can also test for your mic from the voice tab.

Re: Microphone not working!
I have tried all that but still had no luck at all for some reason. I got so fed up and finally decided to remove my sound card so I can use my on-boards sound device.
But for some reason I have a problem with that as well! The speakers don't work now either! I'w tried everything but the Realtek audio device won't launch! This stupid "Digital Output Device" (HDMI) keeps appearing instead. Any help? =/ Motherboard is ASUS M3N78-PRO |
