I reformatted my computer now there is not sound!

Hey guys i recently reformatted my computer because of trojans and all that and then i start up my computer and all the drivers are working and everything is fine apart from the sound.

I have tried all sorts of different things and yes the speakers are plugged in...

To make this siloution easier for you, some of the stuff i have tried are...
reinstalling the driver which i cannot do because it comes up with a error message and also my multimedia audio driver has a yellow triangle with ! in it.

I also have all the service packs that are out i am not that computer literate and i have ran out of stuff to try and this is really frustrating me so please help me thanks

Have you done Full format or just Participation C

I done a full reformat.

I also got i think al the drivers from the service packs apart from the...
yea the multimedia audio controller that is not working.

What is the brand and model of the pc?

It is a packardbell NEC

CPU Type AMD Athlon 64, 2200 MHz (11 x200) 3200+

Have you looked on the PB support site for sound card drivers? . . Have you done a Windows Update yet?

yes i ahve done al the windows updates and yes i have had a look on the pb site for some sound drivers but i am not sure what one to get as there is a very long list and when i type in my S/N it says it is invalid.

You will have to come up with the right serial number . . then the list of drivers will be dmall

If all else fails you can open the case and get the model # off the sound card, or the mobo if the sound is integrated. You could also call the company that you bought the computer from to verify the S/N. This could be useful for future troubleshooting.
