Re: Creative Mixer Error Need Help

Strange that a re-install of windows didn't fix the issue.

How did you re-install windows? Format, install windows, install drivers (for motherboard, soundcard and anything else you have), then update windows?

Have you checked for malware/spyware or virus'?

Barring any malware issues probably the best way to troubleshoot this is to take the card out and try it in another computer.

If you can't do that, have you tried taking the card out of the computer altogether?
Best way to do this is to uninstall soundcard from device manager
uninstall Sound Blaster drivers from add and remove programs in Control Panel
turn off the computer
remove card from computer
put the card back in, preferably in a different pci slot
boot into safe mode
cancel out of any windows install wizards
install creative drivers
reboot

Re: Creative Mixer Error Need Help

The error code in winamp is just complaining that it can't find your soundcard.

Have you tried taking the card out of the computer? Maybe, since there is a problem you should clean the contacts by using an eraser (like on the end of a pencil) to polish the gold parts that go into the slot on the motherboard. Probably isn't needed here but just in case. Then blow out any dust that is probably around there, preferably with canned air, and reseat the card. If you have an extra pci slot than put it back in there just in case.

Also, you haven't stated whether or not you have downloaded newer drivers off of the Creative website. If you haven't ever done that than try that and see what happens.
