Static With AC97
I currently have the AC97 codecs running on Windows Vista. When I upgraded to Vista years ago, my speakers began constantly making static/humming/buzzing whenever they are turned on. I have never been that annoyed by the issue, but recently it has really started to bother me. I have seen a ton of support forums online with people who have this issue, and the common denominator is the AC97 codecs with Asus mother boards. But no one has a fix that tackles that issue with Vista. Does anyone out there have one?
I have an old pair of Altec Lansing 5.1 speakers (I know they aren't the issue) Asus A8N-E |

Re: Static With AC97
I didn't really have an answer for you and was waiting to see if anyone else jumped in.
Onboard audio can be finicky that way and sometimes the best solution is to just turn it off and get a cheap sound card (depending on what you are doing). Just look at it as time vs. money. ~$30 for an Audigy SE or, my favorite since you don't have to deal with creative drivers, a Turtle Beach Riviera vs. however many hours you have into looking in forums and trying different solutions. I know it's not what you wanted to hear but onboard audio can be a downright pain sometimes. Pauldo |
