Non-default audio drivers
Hello, I'm having problems with the IDT CODEC audio drivers that came installed with my new laptop (Dell Latitude E6400, Vista Ultimate, 4GB RAM, 2.26 GHz). Does anyone have any recommendations for other audio drivers that would be compatible with my system and would work?

Re: Non-default audio drivers
What is the problem?
Did this happen after an update? Have ou seen this thread on that subject: http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19000190.aspx?PageIndex=10 I did not go through the whole thing but it appears there are some work-arounds in there. I do realize that these posts are from May of last year but I thought it might give some insight into your problem. Pauldo |

Re: Non-default audio drivers
Hmmm, I'm not actually getting an error--the sound just "crackles" and "pops" at irregular intervals. It doesn't skip per se, but there are minor distortions for all sounds. I've tried to play it on different media players (iTunes, WMP, etc), but the same problem persists.

Re: Non-default audio drivers
Hey that actually seemed to help. Is there any way to make this permanent? My campus is entirely wireless and it would be irritating to have to turn the wireless off every time I want some quality audio. I appreciate the help!

Re: Non-default audio drivers
Try disabling the 'A' mode or band on your wireless card. Not sure how to do this, other than go through device manager, as I don't own a dell laptop but that seems to work for a lot of people.
Let me know how it goes. Pauldo |
