I want my lap top to be louder

is there a way for me to make my lap top louder? it works, but it's quieter than most other lap tops. it's an Acer Aspire 5600...

Have you looked to see if your volume is turned down. Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Volume tab > under Device volume click on Advanced. Make sure that Master and Wave volumes are all the way up.

Other than that, is it every sound that comes out of the computer or just DVD's?

There is this piece of free software: DFX Audio Enhancer

Many people report that it boosts there volume noticeably. Beware, though, that their website states that it has a 5 star rating from Cnet and if you go to Cnet and search for DFX Audio Enhancer there are only user ratings. Some are fairly good (the Winamp plugin has over 1 million downloads) but still, kind of misleading on their website.
