NO sound after installation of XP SP2

I installed windows XP sp2 and now I have no sound...

I'm 13 so if you can try to make the instructions kind of simple ^^

and welcome to the Forum

You need to load the Motherboard drivers. Be sure to install the Chipset driver first, then the others in any order.

You can find them on the motherboard manufacturers web site.

On my comp it says HP Compaq..is that it?

Hp/Compaq what?
There should be a tag on the computer that specifies the model #.
If this is a PC it is usually located on the Side or back of the tower.
If it is a laptop it would be on the bottom

BUT, you need to load the Chipset driver first. Install in the order I give you please.

Chipset Driver:

UAA Driver:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport..._I23303-108286

Audio Driver:

If this PC is not connected to the internet you may have to use a PC that is and download and Burn these drivers to a CD or use a flash drive.

This will leave you with the USB Modem. I need to know if you have the disk for this modem. If not I will need the make and model of this Modem.

Yes,
The links are posted in order for what you need to install.
Start with the Chipset driver and work your way down the list.
Once they are installed go back to the device manager and post any remaning errors

Alright I download the chipset then it asked me to restart and I did..now when i tried installing the video one it said it didn't find a compatible harddrive or something.

was i supposed to do anything after the chipset installed?? all i did was restart?

That's all you need to do . . does the pc have the original video card or was it replaced??

You may have a different Video card.
Go to the Device Manager
Right Click on the Video error>Go to Properties>Go to Details Tab.
Post the VEN/DEV numbers you have under Device Instance ID.

You can continue with the UAA Driver and Audio driver.
