Re: ESI JULI Low bass

Edit feature disappears after 10 minutes or so. Don't worry about it.

I haven't had any experience with that sound card so I am not sure how much help I will be but if you have checked your Master Volume (Control Panel > Volume tab > Advanced button under Device Volume) and your Subwoofer volume is OK (if you don't see it, click on Options and select from list) then maybe you should check out this article:

Re: ESI JULI Low bass

Did you read the article?

It lists several online resources/forums that cater to this particular sound card.

The only other things that I can think of is to hook up an mp3 player (or CD player) to the speakers, not the computer, and see what the base is like. Would prove if your sound card is the culprit or not. Also the article I linked to has a troubleshooting section. Would help to know if you tried any of those.

Also, you haven't mentioned anything about adjusting the bass volume using the remote. Have you done this?

You can always ask another question and see where it gets you. Hopefully somebody here will see it and be able to answer. Just make sure to ask the question differently and explain in detail what you have tried to fix the problem.

Re: ESI JULI Low bass

I just plugged my speakers with a mp3 player and the sound was excellent, no bass problem their. Here I have taken some photos to show you how I have plugged my speakers into the computer. I wanna correct some misguided information I gave earlier, it is that the sound only comes out from where it ses out L, not R.

If you guys need any photos from the control panel in audio settings, let me know. I wonder if its windows there is anything wrong with? And should I again fully uninstall everything about the sound card and physically take the card out and put it in again, would that help?

Re: ESI JULI Low bass

Bet you more than anything it is the adapter. I have read several posts since last week talking about how using an adapter results in either Left or Right audio cutting out. In those posts, sometimes they got sound working by adjusting how far in the adapter was pushed (or how far in the original plug was pushed into the adapter). Didn't always work. There also seems that not all adapters are created equal. Maybe try a different adapter.

Do you have a break out cable?

The gold 'thing' that you have in your first pic and that your green cable is plugged into on your last pic.

I'm guessing here but the idea would be to move that adapter in and out just a little bit to see if it allowed better sound. I have just seen posts talking about this issue (not with your sound card) of the adapter not making the correct connection. Using a different adapter, usually a slightly different length, seemed to help.

Just saw on the ESI website that the JULI@ comes with a break out cable (one end plugs into your sound card and the other end has 4 connections that you can use to connect to various things). The cable looked like it had smaller inputs so you would not need an adapter to plug in your speakers.

As I said before, I am not familiar with this type of soundcard so I'm just shooting in the dark here. The Esi website did have links to two different forums for that card.

Re: ESI JULI Low bass

ok I maybe should buy a longer adapter or go for a break out cable, and see how that works out. It seems very weird that the adapter can cause the lack of sound coming from sub. And bro about the esi forums its mainly for esi not emu cards.

Re: ESI JULI Low bass

Ya, I threw that out there because you didn't really say much about the EMU links I had posted earlier. I kept thinking, so does he have a ESI?

Hope you get it working.

Re: ESI JULI Low bass

omg omg omg you were so right pauldo, you're a hero. It was the ******* adapter, i tried to pull it back, and bam the bass were there. I have to be really careful with the adapter, since it is about mm. Its weird that when the adapter is fully in, there is low sound, but when i pull it a little bit back it works, i am so happy right now, woho.

Re: ESI JULI Low bass

I celebrated to early :D No the bass is fine now, now its the headphones who have turned to assholes. There is only sound on left headphone. When i plugg the other way, the bass cut of, and headphones seems very fine. I guess it is either choosing between headphones or fine bass, sucks :(

Re: ESI JULI Low bass

Ya, that sounds like the wrong sized adapter.

Glad to hear that the problem has been narrowed down.

Re: ESI JULI Low bass

Hey, was out of town for Xmas.

Not sure of any brand names and I really don't know what you would be looking for here as I haven't had this issue myself (just read about it). The idea would be to bring the adapter that you have now into a store (if you are in the States, Radio Shack, Best Buy) and look for one that is different in length. Just make sure it is not mono.
