Hey Guys,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P300/Q01 laptop using Vista and my soundcard is the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 22. There is a definite lack of clarity in the sound, an undertone of slight static comes through (some frequencies are worse than others). It is the same while listening through headphones or the built-in speakers. If I play a track in winamp and then pause it you can still here a bit of the static going in the background (though not as bad as when a song is playing). Then when I close winamp you hear a small *thunk* and the background fuzz is gone. It's even more apparent when I use Nuendo/Cubase or any other digital audio software. I've already updated the driver to try to fix it. Any ideas on this? The only thing I can think is Vista might need a reinstall. Thanks in advance, Mark |

Re: Fuzzy Sound
From my experience, this is a hardware issue. Not a software one.
One thing that you might try is turning off your wireless (if it's not off already) and see what it does to your audio. There are some Dell computers that emit static when the onboard wireless is on. Might be the same situation here. Also, have you looked into updating your graphics driver? Probably not the case here but audio and video drivers have been known to conflict. Pauldo |
