Hi,
What is the make and model of your PC?
Are you sure you have a AC97 Realtek sound card?

Re: System crash after during Realtek installation

Hi,
Chipset Driver Here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...ition&lang=eng

Audio:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...ition&lang=eng

If the Setup exe fails do a manual install of the driver through the device manager. Extract the file to a folder so you know where it is.
Quote:
Setup for Manual
----------------
1. Double-click the "System" icon to open the "System Properties" dialog from Control Panel .
2. Choose "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button .
3. Please right-click mouse on "MultiMedia Audio Controller" and choose the "Properties" menu item
to show the driver details.
4. Click the "Driver" tab and then click the "Update Driver..." button for update.
5. Please follow the instructions of the "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard".
6. Choose "Search for a suitable driver for my device" and click the "Next" button.
7. Please specify the driver location/source and then click the "Next" button in this case,
"Specify a location" has been chosen.
8. If "Specify driver location" is chosen, the Wizard will ask for the path where the driver is located (Browse to the folder you extracted the driver to).
9. Click the "Next" button to install Audio Driver on "Driver Files Search Results".
10. If the "Digital Signature Not Found" dialog is opened, click the "Yes" button to continue
the Installation.
11. After completing the above steps, the driver has been installed into the system.
Please click "Finish" button to complete the installation.

Re: System crash after during Realtek installation

Hello.

Thank you for your help. I have attempted this procedure a few times and each attempt comes up with the same result.

It seems that even in the manual install the system will still crash as it gets to the end of the installation.

I've reached the end of my knowledge and have no idea what to do.

Re: System crash after during Realtek installation

Have you installed the chipset driver?
Do you have XP SP2 installed?
If you have installed various Realtek drivers you may have conflicts.
Remove any Realtek drivers from add/remove programs and in the Device Manager.
Run this program to remove any traces:
http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

Once this is done, Please go to your device manager and post any errors (yellow !).
You may have other drivers that may need to be installed before the Audio driver.

Re: System crash after during Realtek installation

I've done all of the above now. I ran the drivesweeper program but it says file cannot be found when i click clean on realtek.

I also restarted the system after thinking i had got rid of all traces but after rebooting it wanted to install AC97 again.

Ok,
Can you look at the rear of the tower and see if there is a tag.
Post the model # on the tag. I want to see what E-Machine is using for a driver.

Re: System crash after during Realtek installation

Do you have MS Installer 3.1 installed:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

You may need this driver MS UAA before you install the Audio:
http://geekswithblogs.net/lorint/arc.../11/81540.aspx
Scroll down the list to Q888111
Select XP SP2 and download and install the UAA driver.
Then reinstall the Audio driver I posted in thread #14.

Hi,
Did you install the Chipset driver?
Can you attach the full Everest report to the thread?
Copy it to notepad and attach it to the thread under Go Advance.
