no sound device. error d11ba cant be fixed
ok i'm on xp, all drivers installed and showing up and saying they're installed and function properly. i've done all the trouble shooting associated with error d11ba, googled the error and found forums and followed all THOSE troubleshooting suggestions. no dice.
In the Window Media Player, on the Tools menu--> Options..... On the Devices tab, in the list of devices, when I click Speakers, and then click the Properties button. On the Speakers tab, i click the Advanced button, and then, On the Volume tab, it says NO SOUND DEVICE. and yet every other tab/screen i've gone thru in my control panel and everywhere else shows the RealTek sound device...... under device mgmt everything is listed with NO yellow exclamation points or red x's. i've tried CD's as well as several different audio files in my music folder. i've updated the windows media player, i've double checked microsoft for updates.... and now i'm going to flip out and throw something out the window. |

Re: no sound device. error d11ba cant be fixed
also, my control panel shows the Realtek HD Audio Manager Icon, i can open it and play with all the settings and bells and whistles...... and yet in the same Control Panel, i click Sound and Audio Devices and it says No Audio Device. makes no sense....
it's showing up everywhere and says "functioning properly" but obviously it isn't there.

Re: no sound device. error d11ba cant be fixed
it's just so weird cuz in the media player, tools-options-speakers..... it shows the realtek selected to use this device.
but on the Volume tab it says No Audio Device. i even have the realtek icon down by the clock. in fact i DO get audio when i open that and run the 3-D Audio Demo. ***?!?!

Re: no sound device. error d11ba cant be fixed
So what does it say as your Default playback device under Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Audio? Is that were it is saying No Audio Device?
It kind of sounds like a UAA issue. Kind a. Have you tried a complete uninstall? Remove software via add and remove programs, then before you reboot, uninstall audio device via device manager. Reboot. Re-install audio drivers. If that doesn't work, than maybe you need to re-install UAA drivers. You should completely uninstall your audio device first then install UAA drivers. Re-boot. Install Realtek drivers. Here is a link to UAA drivers. Pauldo |

Quote:
yea, under Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Audio tab it shows No Playback Devices on the dropdowns, and Volume tab says No Audio Device. only problem with reinstall is..... the motherboard came with only a DVD, no cd. and i actually dont have a dvd drive. this was all set up for me at my local shop so he had an extra dvd drive. he said he installed all the drivers, audio included. and he likely did, as i've mentioned in this thread, the presence and alleged "functioning properly" of RealTek (when poking around elsewhere) tells me that it kinda sorta is on here somehow someway.... i assume i could DL the necessary drivers from the web and do the reinstall that way?

Re: no sound device. error d11ba cant be fixed
okay, i had my friend proxy in and try some things. we DL'd the updated drivers... but couldn't install. in fact, it will not let us UNinstall the Realtek driver. not even in safe mode. says it wont uninstall cuz it could be needed for bootup, which doesn't seem right. guess i'll have to go back to the shop.

Re: no sound device. error d11ba cant be fixed
With that error you need to go into Bios and disable onboard audio first. Then uninstall Realtek via Add and Remove Hardware. Reboot. Enable onboard audio in Bios. Skip Windows hardware detection and install new driver.
If it won't install at this point then you will more than likely need the UAA driver I talked about. The new driver should have this bundled, though. Hope that helps. Pauldo |
