Problems with Sound Realtek AC'97 Audio

Hi there guys ive been having problems with my sound coming from my speakers for quite sometime now probably like a year or more as ive tried alot. my problem is that whenever i play games, music etc from my pc speakers the sound that is supposed to be coming out the right speaker seems to be coming out the left speaker and the left speaker coming out the right very annoying lol is there some kind of fix for this as only thing i can think of is switching the speakers by putting right speaker on the left side etc but thats fine for now but when it comes to headphones etc same thing there im guesssing its a sound card fault ? ive tried updating drivers etc nothing im starting to think along the lines of buying another soundcard thought id ask you awsome people first

maybe you just put the wrong speaker in the wrong place.
