two PC's sharing one pair of speakers?

are the speakers 2.1 or 5.1?

I guess you can try a splitter cable, but I honestly don't know if it'll work.

with the right cable this could work, but the problem will be that the two output chips are going to be pushing against each other, and this could cause one of them to fail.

it'd be best to go and buy a cheap mixer board, simple two channel mixers can be found for fairly cheaply. i'd expect 20-30$.

using a mixer board, there's no risk to either soundcard, and plus you can balance them a little better.
