Connect pc to home theater for 6 channel 5.1
Ok so my soundcard is definitely 5.1 compatible, check this screen shot
![]() im trying to connect the pc to this cheap home theater system i bought for like 200 bucks, its really just a phillips dvd player with the 6 speakers plugging directly into the dvd player... right now i just have one 3.5mm double male ended plugged into the "front" labled port (the middle green one) and i know its not coming through on all the speakers. when i plug it into "center/sub" it sounds a little bit better, the sub woofer actually works...but when watching a movie on the pc the duologue comes in real low, the background music real high. on the other end of the 3.5mm audio cord is plugged into the "mp3 input" port on the front of the dvd player...theres also a usb port here...labled "directusb" i wish i could tell you guys what kind of stereo it is, but i cant find a serial number on it... on the back of it it has some alternative connection ports....most notably the "audio in" section...which includes 2 rows of white and red ports. one pair is listed "aux" (L and R) and the other row is labeled "tv" i guess im hoping that i can find a cable with three 3.5mm headphone jacks at one end to plug into the 3 ports on the back of my soundcard and then a red and white rca on the other end to plug into the dvd players audio in....right? would using a usb method be better? can 6 channel 5.1 surround sound go through the red and white rca connection? any help would be greatly appreciated...im just a music lover looking to get a little higher off my tunes. ![]() computer specs (1) Intel Pentium D 915 Processor 2.8GHz (1) 1GB PC4200 533MHz DDR2 Memory (1GB x 1) (1) Intel DQ965GFKR S775 mATX Motherboard w/Gigabit LAN Last edited by trivialpersuit; 09-27-2008 at 10:37 AM. |

Re: Connect pc to home theater for 6 channel 5.1
you need to find that model #.
![]() More than likely that directusb is for plugging in a USB Flash drive and playing music and pics off of that. You aren't going to get 5.1 through those ports you have listed. Also have you tried plugging any cables into those ports. The little bit that comes up on Google says that those ports are for outgoing audio, not incoming. Pauldo |
