[SOLVED] Loss of sound

I have suddenly lost all sound on my PC. I have checked the various sound settings and checked the hardware and all are shown as correct.
I have speakers in my monitor and desk speakers. The monitor screen works and the desk speakers activate when switched on.
I assume that this is a problem with the sound card which is a Soundmax Digital Audio.
i would appreciate any assistance.
Many thanks
John

Re: Loss of sound

Hi

Try loading a system restore point from before the sound problem started.

If that doesn't help - reinstall the audio driver. It should be provided on a CD you got with the PC.

If you need more help, please post brand/model of the computer.

Re: Loss of sound

Apologies for the delay - we have been away.
I tried system restore but it would not accept a recent date and |i did not want to go back too far.
I played around with the audio system settings and returned to the original settings and it worked again.
Many thanks for your help
