On my desktop with xp pro the onboard Realtek sound card went out so I removed it in the add and remove programs. Then I installed a pci sound card from CompUSA. Booted up and followed the instructions to use the CD. It was installing and then restarted and computer will not boot up. I removed cd and still it goes to a black screen. Please help!!!

Re: no reboot
yes, i took the card out and re-installed it and then started up the computer and it boots up with sound to the windows xp screen and then went black and then booted up for a day. Yesterday it went to sleep mode and would not wake up. Black screen again. Tried turning it off and on and same thing, reboots, the logo comes up and then a black screen for about 5 minutes and then it will boot up. But it is acting unstable.

Re: no reboot
Take the card out and leave it out till you get the computer stable. Once the card is out use a restore point to a date before the card was installed and report back if the computer is running normal. When you get it stable we will work on getting the card installed
