PCI vs PCIE x1 (CPU Usage) Question

Hello, thanks for your time.

I want to buy a new sound card to upgrade the onboard sound card that I'm using right now and something that I heard is that it is possible that by getting a new sound card, since the onboard uses CPU, that if you get a new sound card that is independent it will take the load off your CPU and can actually get you better framerate in games since the CPU doesn't have to do the sound.

The only slot that I have open that I could do a soundcard in is a PCIE x1. I have looked around, all the ones that I found in reviews people said that they used CPU.

I want to know of a PCIE x1 sound card that does not use CPU that is not more than 135$.

Is there such a thing or do all PCIE x1 sound cards all use CPU? And only PCI does not use CPU?

Sorry for long question. The above is pretty much all I need to know.
