[SOLVED] X-Fi works fine, but Windows says "Found New Hardware"
I recently installed the game "Mass Effect" on my PC and had major problems getting it to work. I read on the game forums that a lot of the problems people were having were related to Soundblaster X-Fi cards and drivers, so I downloaded and installed the latest drivers.
In the control panel I was showing 2 audio devices though, Soundblaster X-Fi and SigmaTel Audio. I thought the SigmaTel might be a left over driver from the factory sound card so I uninstalled that. Now the sound works fine, the game loads fine, everything seems normal except that when I start my PC Windows says "Found New Hardware", a PCI device which I'm assuming is my X-Fi, and it wants to go online to find software for it. What gives, and how can I fix this? I tried letting Windows search for software and installed that, but it made the sound not work so I uninstalled that, too. |

The SigmaTel Audio is your built-in sound card. You have to disable it in BIOS Setup so WinXP does not see it.
