Arrow Audio device is not detected (AC'97)

Can someone help me with my computer. I actually bought it from the neighbour after they have closed their internet hub. I think it's a custom built pc, but when i have it, it was down and all files in Windows<dir> was corrupted. So, I installed a new winxp sp2 OS, and glad I had a fresh computer but then when I trying to play windows player. It says that no audio devices are installed/detected or it may not be functioning properly. (something like that). But i don't have the cd that came along with the mobo. So i have to go find another way install drivers from the internet.

so I installed drivers, Realtek AC'97 from Gigabyte website. But is still not detected but installed.. AC'97 in BIOS is already enabled, also windows audio in the service.msc, i already set the device to auto.

But in the device manger, the Realtek driver is functioning properly aside from other mixers, synthesizers etc.

Here are some pictures of the problem...

Welcome to TSF

Did you download / install the mobo's chipset driver first?

Re: Audio device is not detected (AC'97)

I don't have the cd for the installation of the drivers, but i have downloaded it via gigabyte website is it the 4in1 chipset driver? and then i installed it in my computer, and as soon as i already installed it, reboot and install the audio driver Realtek AC'97 that i also downloaded in the gigabyte website too. The same thing happened, still my drivers can't be detected. all switches are on now, the ac'97 in BIOS enabled, also in service.msc autostart is set to 'automatic'. I guess i have problem uninstalling with the Realtek audio driver, because before i know about the chipset 4in1 driver for mobo, i already installed the realtek driver. But no matter how i uninstall it, it always comes back installing whenever i turn-on my computer. maybe that is why no matter i install the chipset 4in1, still have no sound because it's not properly installed. one more thing, the realtek on its properties is working properly, aside from the the other things, like synthesizer, wave, etc.. on its properties it says, that something like 'this device is not properly installed because it has duplicate.

Please help me fix it.
i'm trying to totally uninstall the realtek driver first before i should start installing the chipset 4in1 driver again.

thnx for your reply though.

Re: Audio device is not detected (AC'97)

Check in bios that the onboard sound is set "enabled"

Install VIA board driver first, reboot pc , install sound card.

Re: Audio device is not detected (AC'97)

My BIOS version is F5 and i think it is their latest update.
I already have installed the audio driver for the board from Gigabyte website.
Maybe because it cannot be detected is because i still have drivers not properly installed.
Like those Microsoft Kernel Acoustic Canceller and others because it has a duplicate (code 42).
My problem is how to get rid of those duplicates.
I also installed now SP3 hoping it could fix, but still the same.
I could see the Realtek AC'97 audio controller in the device manager but together with those other drivers not properly installed and has yellow exclamation mark with it.

Re: Audio device is not detected (AC'97)

I found the solution. You just have to install the intel chipset and SoundMax WDM driver that are on my recovery disc. I'm uploading a zip file of the folder. All you have to do is run the setup.exe file in the Audio\ADI folder.

I will post the link to the download as soon as it finishes uploading.

Edit: Here.
