Odd Sound lag
I'm running a 790i ultra, 4gig ddr3 2k mhz Ram, q9300 cpu, 1000w psu, 9800gx2 and Vista Ultimate. The problem i'm having is this odd sound lag which can get very terrible which has locked up a game and only resumed after i pulled the speakers jack out. I'm listening to music right now and every 30 seconds or so is takes a 1 sec lag spike. Now the wierd thing is that this is only happening when taking my computer to my parents house. I have never had this problem at home or at a friends lan night before. My only idea what could make it be doing this is maybe the power consumption from the outlet here? Thoe there is no visible graphical (powering a gx2) but theres audio lag >.< Ive reinstalled drivers and countless checks like power consumption for cpu ect but nothing. Any ideas would be thankful :)
(Ive tested with my own monitor and headphones that i know have worked at home only other thing is keyboard and mouse and the power cable in this room) Last edited by Celwynd : 07-13-2008 at 05:51 AM. |

Re: Odd Sound lag
Yes, i have this exact problem too. But for my case, i suspect it is the power supply. My PSU may not be supporting my MSI 8800GT OC Edition, MSI Neo2 FR and Creative Audigy Z (old stuff) well enough. Besides, i have 2 hard disks, 2 Roms and 2Gb RAMs which will eat on to the power.
In other words, the power which is channeled to my sound card may not be consistent and this create a situation whereas the card itself underperform under low or minimum power support. I don't have solid evidence to proof my case but i am monitoring it. Thinking of switching PSU (currently using Vantec 500W, heard that is sucks) if this does not work out. Besides, i have used K-Lite Codec Pack and XP Codec Pack but no improvement in terms of consistent audio performance. And, the songs itself have no problem. Tested them on my MP3 and it works fine. Maybe someone here can help... |
