Well, i'm new to this site so let me start off by saying this site is amazing, big, and well i can get help for almost anything over here. It's very satisfying.
Anyways, onto my problem... When i'm playing CS:S (Counter Strike: Source) I talk to my friends. Ever since i got my new computer(made it myself), my headset just never sounds right. Everytime i talk into the mic, i hear my voice looping and going on and on and on and on. It's quite annoying. I've tried everything, even contact realtek. because thats the type of chipset/sound card, i have. They never replied to my e-mail, and i don't know what to do anymore.. Here's the settings on the realtek software that came with the motherboards CD. (the screen shots of it.) ![]() ![]() ![]() And these are the settings of normal volume control on my control panel- ![]() ![]() So, long story short, my problem is.
:( I am willing to talk to whom ever it is on the phone/IM if the problem is big. Thank you, Ahmer. Last edited by ahmer9800 : 07-10-2008 at 05:57 PM. Reason: Adding more screenshots |

Re: Speakers + Mic
This is going to sound pretty stupid, but are you 100% sure you have everything plugged in correctly?
Also, it looks like your default is set for PC speakers and not headset, you might try changing that. I didn't see anything that "screams" digital effect, but I'm not familiar with this control suite for the realtek. One thing that caught my eye was the Environment setting being "Living Room" No idea what the acoustic properties of any of those presets are. Furthermore, not sure what having that Karaoke icon up there means. If it's trying to layer your voice over something, then that would probably sound like what you are reporting. See if there is a way to DISABLE everything in the "environment" section... The windows screenshots seem normal at first glance... Have you actually tried the "test hardware" option on the Voice tab of the Sound/Video Options. Also, you should try all this stuff NOT connected to the Vent server or whatever... Oh, on the Volume tab of the Audio Properties box, click Advanced and make sure it is set to headset and not an actual speaker combination. Some of them may have effects; it varies by vendor... Sorry if this kinda rambles but I'm brain-dead after a week of Active Directory Admin training, LOL! :) |

Re: Speakers + Mic
karaoke settings are correct. Try enabling acoustic echo canclation, and/or noise suppression, kinda experiment. I have the realtek 7.1 interface, i dont use a mic/headset but have toyed around with the GUI itself changing things.

Re: Speakers + Mic
If that does not work, CSS also has a setting that may be enabled by mistake on your computer.
Incorrect: voice_loopback 1 Correct: voice_loopback 0 These settigns can be accessed through the console, which can be activated in the advanced keyboard settings.

Is it on "Stereo Mix" ???
Can they hear you at all? Damn, Realtek really goes nutz with effects! My X-Fi didn't have anything like this! Try this: Mute "Stereo Mix" in the recording section and mute the Mic in your playback section of the mixer. ![]()

Re: Speakers + Mic
OMG, I know! I downloaded the actual Realtek drivers for my built in "nforce audio" chipset which is just AC97 crapfest, and now I have all these HILARIOUS bizarre digital effects and stuff that are just INSANE, LOL! :)
