i insatlled xp and need help with sound

ok so i installed xp on my computer, well reinstalled , i had xp before. all it did was put xp in a different folder so i still have all my old stuff. but i have no sound. wheni went to see what sound card is in this i went to thesystem info and it says i have no sound card?! its just blank... so i need a little help. please.

my comuter is an acer, i have xp home on it. i used to have xp office i think. thats about all we know. if you need more info tell me what you need and i will try to find. thanks.

Right click my computer and choose manage.

Click device manager and go to the sound and multimedia devices section. Does it tell you what sound device you have?

Interesting, no trace of a sound device.

Try this:
start > run > winver > ok

What service pack is installed? I think there is a special hotfix for high definition audio chips that magically enables their bus.

I do too. If it does not, you may have to open your computer and look at the sound card to see what make and model it is.
