new sound card front/rear panel audio problem

i've browsed around but haven't exactly found the answer to my question so here it goes...
first of all i have a ASUS m2n sli deluxe mobo and a case with the 10 pin front audio connector with 8th pin missing

back ground info so it might help you help me :)
I bought the razer barracuda ac-1 and removed the jumpers that was on the board and connected the front panel audio to it. But this leaves me without jumpers on the on-board pins. is this ok?
After installing the new driver and software i went ahead and uninstalled my realitek on-board driver. Soon after, vista automatically installed "High Definition Audio Device" driver.

The sound card works fine but when i plug in headphone in the front the sound seems to cut 50/50 front/rear. Isn't it supposed to kill the rear audio and reroute it to just the front?

thanks in advance
