Pin Sound is lagging

I have a problem with the audio preferences on my PC (WIN XP SP2). The sound seems to lag when playing video or mp3 files or other sound. When the Windows jingle plays at startup, it also lags and makes this annoying popping sound. It seems that when using software with lower mem use to play the audio/video files that the lagging is less. I have bought a new soundcard (7.1. Delock Bundle) to replace the old Sound Blaster Live! but it did not help. Also I cant get sound out of the P5K motherboard soundcard socket. I have tried to update the drivers and installed the K-Lite codec pack and the Realtek AC'97 driver - no use. I pretty sure this problem is with the drivers or a configuration in the motherboard/bios. Could any of you get a way to fix this? Thanks for your support.
