Sound just wont work....

Out of nowhere i had to press run on every single thing on my computer even the fingerprint scanner before i put in my password.There was no sound so i asked for help and uninstalled then reinstalled my sound driver and then i got the cannot play test sound thing and tried uninstalling and reinstalling again but now when i try to install it it sais it has found the information but it cant install because of soem INF folder or something.....So now my audio icon says No Audio Output Device Is Installed, and i cant install it because of teh INF folder.I went to the website for my speakers and Dell.com and both cant install. My system restore dont do anythig about it either. What should I try now?

Welcome to TSF.

Please post the Dell model name/number.

Scan the computer for malware.

my problem is also the sound but wat i wanna ask is like i have a dell pc and the audio wont work. i phoned dell people and they said it is a software issue and that they are going to charge me and i dont wanna pay. but can u help me with this one thing. i wanna format my pc with a another xp cd not the one dell gave me, do u think that will resolve the issue.
