How can I record analog audio to the computer?
When I connect the cassette player line-out into my computer's microphone jack and record using the microsoft 'Sound Recorder' function, the result is loud and garbled. When I plug the cassette player line-out into my computer's Line-In jack it comes through the computer speakers nicely, but then Sound Recorder only re-records the computer's own playback indirectly using its built-in microphone (complete with room sounds and no bass). I tried changing the recording device in control panel but ''SoundMax Digital Audio" is the only device available.
Any ideas on how to achieve a direct recording of the analog signal into a digital file (without buying one of these expensive dedicated converters)? It's an IBM T30 with XP. |
