Issue with my Onboard HD Sound
Hi all, this is my first thread so hoepfully all goes well.
I have a Core 2 on a Asus P5GC-MX/1333 motherboard. Nvidia 9600GT Seagate HDD 2 GB Ram Onboard Soundcard = HD Realtek (I cant find any information on any of the manuals on which realtek it could be) The problem is that i cannot recieve any sound, ive tried the factory drivers but they simply wont install, so i downloaded some new ones and again the same problem. When either of these drivers attempt to install they get about 90% of the way then fails with an error code of "Error Code : -0001". Another problem is when in Device Manager it calls my soundcard "'Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" and not even 'realtek'. It then refuses to uninstall the driver claiming "Failed to uninstall the Device. The Device may be required to boot up the computer". When i attempt to 'upgrade' the driver it simply does nothing. Ive recently put this computer together myself and was wondering if it could have something to do with either the led placement on the motherboard OR perhaps its the front panel (as my case like many has the option to place a HD Sound into the motherboard to access the front connectors). Ive also tried turning the sound to either 'off' or to the 'AC97' settings in my Bios and unfortunately no change. Im not too sure what else i could tell ya's but this is proving to be quite a pain in the **** and any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers |

Re: Issue with my Onboard HD Sound
Thanks for the effort but unfortunately no change. I still got that existing error when trying to install the driver, although the other program installed, yet appreared to do nothing. Is it possible that i simply damaged my motherboard upon installation?

Re: Issue with my Onboard HD Sound
boot into safe mode and then uninstall it's listing in the device manager
reboot and run the driver from the m/b setup disk these drivers either install straight away or are the exact opposite and are a right pain

Re: Issue with my Onboard HD Sound
Still no change, i think it may be the realtek drivers simply not working with my machine. When i installed my intel chipset update form the motherboard cd the first time it crashed my machines ,when running it the second time it assumed it had already been installed and just finished without even attempting to load it again. Perhaps this has something to do with it? unfortunately even if it does i cant delete the intel chipset software as its not in my add/remove programs list.
