No sound from mic and headphone

I am using a Fujitsu S Series Lifebook.

On normal computer use, I can have the sound from the computer speaker.

When I tried to use the pin jack for both the mic n speaker as well as the usb coneector, I get no sound.

On the usb part there is no power supply at all.

I tried my friend creative usb type mic/headphone /webcam, it work perfectly.

What can be the problem or missing links?

Have you tried another usb device?
