OS rebooting after installing sound card
Hi I am currently running a BIOSTAR P4M80-M4 V 7.0 (800MHZ FSB)/ 2GB DDR RAM/PENTIUM 4 3.0GHz CPU with OS Windows XP SP2
I recently installed a new 'Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE'. I un-installed my previous sound card software before I installed the new one. What is happening now is my system is restarting spontaneously without warning once music is playing. Anyone have any suggestions?? |

Re: OS rebooting after installing sound card
Hi
![]() Did you disable the onboard sound in BIOS? Turn "automatical restart" off - that will give you an error message instead of reboot. Control panel > System > Click the "Advanced" tab > click Startup and recovery - Settings > Untick "Automatically restart" > Click OK. You will now be able to read the BSOD (error message) - please post back with the exact message. |

Re: OS rebooting after installing sound card
Try to place your sound card in another slot. But before that, uninstall drivers, then place it in another slot and install again...
But first try what eneles said... |

Re: OS rebooting after installing sound card
Hi eneles I did turn off the onboard sound in the BIOS, I haven't done the "automatic restart" as yet but I will try it. Presently i'm not behind the system i'm at work but i'll try it when I reach home. Thanks for the info though.
And vladimirb I did move the card from PCI slot 2 to PCI slot 3, I didn't uninstall the drivers first though. I'll try it again. A friend recommended I try replacing the entire 'BOOT FOLDER', what do you'l' think? |

Re: OS rebooting after installing sound card
I doubled check the error msg that comes up after the system reboots. This is what it says:
"WINDOWS HAS RECOVERED FROM A SERIOUS ERROR" ERROR SIGNATURE BCCode : 10000012 BCP1 : 00000002 BCP2 : 8001003B BCP3 : 00000000 BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1 Above contains the intial message in the error msg window. There's a link at the bottom of the error msg window which allows you to view the technical data for the error msg. This is as is below: Technical Info about the error report: ERROR REPORT CONTENTS The following files will be included in this error report C:\DOCUME~1\Knox\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8225.dir00\Mini041608-01.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\Knox\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8225.dir00\sy Last edited by feanor21; 04-16-2008 at 10:23 PM. |

Re: OS rebooting after installing sound card
I did try what vladimirb suggested and I ran a playlist last night and it appears to have worked, because my system would have normally rebooted before the end of the first song. So i'll monitor it for the day more before I say for sure whether my system has been cured!
Thanks again to you both! Last edited by feanor21; 04-17-2008 at 07:58 AM. |

Re: OS rebooting after installing sound card
Hey fellas i'm still having the same problem. I've been trying everything out of the book, and then some, and still getting nowhere fast. I did some more research and I realise that alot of people have problems with the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE: Model SB0570. I don't think it's just a problem with me.
People have been saying that the drivers that Creative uses for it's products are just no good. I downloaded a set of drivers that supposedly fixes the problems that i've been having so i'll keep you'll posted. BTW, do you'll know how to access 'Daniel K's' drivers |
