OS: Windows XP Professional SP2

Question Generic Host Process issues and the Windows Sound Mixer

Hello!

I've been having issues with a new system that I've built. Every so often, the sound mixer will cut out, and I won't be able to change the volume via the OS; however, the sound still plays, but is not adjustable. On reboot, the system is fine, but I almost always get a "Generic Host Process" error message after the system finishes booting up.

I have Windows XP Professional, SP2, updated to the latest patches. The sound card is a built in card, and the driver I have for it is as up to date as I have been able to get it.

The system is:

E6750 Intel Core 2 Duo CPU (2.66GHz)
2 GB RAM
Asus P5K-E Motherboard
EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT video card
Sound and ethernet are both onboard the mobo
Western Digital Caviar WDC WD5000AAKS hard drive (2, 1 not formatted yet)
Lite-On Combo DVD-ROM/CD-R SOHC-5236V
Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-212D

The only real pieces of software I've installed (so far) are World of Warcraft, Teamspeak 2 (latest version from their website), the CCCP codec pack, and IrFanView.

I'm thinking this has something to do with Teamspeak 2, but I can't find anything on the net that would confirm this.

This is more annoying than anything else, but if anyone can help me fix it (without removing Teamspeak 2 or any of the other programs), I'd be very grateful.

If people need my HiJack This! log, I'll post it in my first reply. I'll also try to take a screenshot of the error window that pops up; I keep forgetting to.

Thanks for any help you folks can give me!
