problems playing sounds in players
My computer seems to have no sound. I've run out of ideas of what could possibly be wrong. Everything started going bad when I updated my Internet Explorer (heavens know why the hell I bothered in the first place if I never use it!). My WMP stop producing sounds. Same with Winamp, which I ended up uninstalling. I tried using another player - Gom player, which doesn't work either.
I reinstalled WMP but that didn't solve the problem. I double check that my sound is not muted but that's not the case, as I can hear sound systems but no music. Then, I tried to see if the problem was just limited to files in my library by trying to play a CD, which ended up not working. Then, I checked to see if I had any sound with YouTube, and I didn't. Actually, I'm not completely sure, as every time that I open any player at all, my computer freezes, any program that I try to open goes kaput (with the exception of Spider Solitaire, which seems to be the only program immune to crashing). I've tried scanning for viruses, malware and the lot, but nothing is coming up. I have no exclamation marks in my device manager apart from one, which is called "Serial", and I have no idea what it does, and I figured it's a bit too vague to look it up in google. I also, by this stage, got a big red exclamation mark in my forehead... Please help me!!! Thanks a lot by the way, for any help that can come this way :) L Computer Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition OS Service Pack Service Pack 2 DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c) Computer Name ---- (Toshiba Satellite ) User Name ---- Motherboard CPU Type Mobile DualCore Intel Pentium M, 1600 MHz (12 x 133) Motherboard Name Unknown Motherboard Chipset Intel Calistoga i945GM/PM System Memory 501 MB (DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM) BIOS Type Phoenix (08/31/06) Display Video Adapter Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family (128 MB) Video Adapter Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family (128 MB) Monitor Plug and Play Monitor [NoDB] Monitor Plug and Play Monitor [NoDB] Monitor Generic Television Monitor Generic Television Multimedia Audio Adapter Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M - High Definition Audio Controller Storage IDE Controller Intel(R) 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7-M Family) Serial ATA Storage Controller - 27C4 SCSI/RAID Controller ENE PCI Memory Stick Card Reader Controller SCSI/RAID Controller ENE PCI Secure Digital / MMC Card Reader Controller SCSI/RAID Controller ENE PCI SmartMedia / xD Card Reader Controller Disk Drive TOSHIBA MK6034GSX (55 GB, IDE) Optical Drive MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S SMART Hard Disks Status OK Partitions C: (NTFS) 56925 MB (28066 MB free) Input Keyboard Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard Mouse Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad Network Network Adapter Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection Network Adapter Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC (192.168.1.64) Modem TOSHIBA Software Modem Peripherals Printer Microsoft Office Document Image Writer USB1 Controller Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M - USB Universal Host Controller USB1 Controller Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M - USB Universal Host Controller USB1 Controller Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M - USB Universal Host Controller USB1 Controller Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M - USB Universal Host Controller USB2 Controller Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M - Enhanced USB2 Controller Battery Microsoft AC Adapter Battery Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery |
