Echo
When playing any audio on my computer the sound isn't normal. It sounds like you are in a room with no furniture. Kind of like it's hollow or echoing. Any ideas how to change this? I have done all I can think of and still nothing changes. I can't stand to even have my volume on anymore since you can barely understand what is being said due to the echoing. HELP!!!

Re: Echo
Do you have realtek's audio effects or creative's EAX on there? Check to see if you have an 'environmental effect' of some sort set. That's what it sounds like to me.

Re: Echo
Could you tell me where I would find that information? A former friend of mine pretty much built the computer from scratch a while back. I never realized the sound was like that because my husband is the one that uses that computer. I happened to hear a file he was playing and asked what in the heck the noise was. He said he thought it was supposed to be that way. So, any help you can provide would be great. Thanks a million!

Re: Echo
Look in the control panel in My Computer for an entry named 'Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager'. If it's there, open it up and make sure that nothing's selected for 'environment'. If it is, click the reset button next to the environment drop-down box, and click 'ok'. That ought to do it if it's a realtek card. If it's a creative EAX thing, the directions will be different. But Realtek is so ubiquitous that I would recommend looking for that first, since I have a hunch that it somehow got enabled.
