Creative drivers trash my Nvidia drivers every boot up

Hi Folks,

Firstly,I'd like to point out that my xfx 7600Gt has worked flawlessly for well over a year now, with tv-out via an s-video lead being it's primary function.

However,I thought I'd be a clever so & so,and install a creative x-fi extreme music card, due to the onboard sound not being too good at times.

Well,as you've probably guessed already, the creative drivers do a marvellous job of trashing my video card every single time I boot up the m/c.

I did all the usual prior to creative installation:-

Deleted onboard soundmax drivers & disabled onboard sound in bios(1216)

Deleted nvidia forceware drivers & cleaned up using Driver cleaner pro AND nasty file remover, both in safe mode, just to make sure.

Tried to reinstall forceware drivers on completion of creative install(following a couple of reboots)but it always returns a code 10 error following a supposedly successful install, and videocard can't 'start'.

This is regardless of pci slot used for the sound card, though there ain't much choice out of 2,with 1 being slap bang under the video card,so I obviously prefer the bottom slot on the mobo.

If anyone has a clue,or has maybe managed to overcome similar difficulties, your input would be most welcome,as this is most definitely the last chance saloon for this particular sound card prior to an already arranged RMA.

Dave

Asus p5b deluxe wifi 1216 bios,Q6600 G0 setting processor,cooled by an Aero 7(not o/c'd whilst trying to install drivers) 2Gb Patriot PC-6400 DDR2 Extreme in slot 1 & 3,3x sata 3 HDD's conventional,ie:no raid.

Re: Creative drivers trash my Nvidia drivers every boot up

Quick addition to the above ^^^ Everything's powered by a Corsair 650w modular power supply, with +12v currently @ 12.09v,so I don't reckon that should be an issue....nothing like a bit of overkill eh?
