Problem: Geting surround sound to work

I got my old surround sound system back from my brother the other day, its a z-5500 logitech digital. When i connect it to the back of my comp through a coaxial cable into the digital audio plug the display screen on coax settings doesn't come up with anything, only "No digital data" which means it isn't picking it up. Tryed playing with some music to see if it worked, nothing.

I then went to mediacenter, and went to the "set up your speakers" option. I went through all the steps, pressed test and wallah, it work. The display on the surround sound showed it picking it up as well. i went to finish etc and went to play some music to find it doesn't work again. I went back to the mediacenter to test it out and it worked as i clicked test, then after i finished again it didn't work. Whenever i click test, it goes from "No digital data" to saying "Effect: digital" (means it has picked up the speakers), finishing the test on the speakers/sub, then going back to "No digital data".

When i go to volume control, i tick digital out option and when the volume control for digitalout comes up on the main panel, it cannot be changed (the grey thingy where u cant tick/move things that are grey, whatever its called :D). My guess is that my audio card is not allowing digital audio to work.

Anyone no what could be up? I'm running windows XP media center edition, have all my audio settings set to 5.1 surround sound, and i got a realtek HD audio sound card. Any help will be appreciated :D
