Soundcard not picking up microphone

Hi, recently i bought a soundcard, specifically http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/22008/ that one and i installed the disc drivers and the sound is great. but my microphone is non existant. if i blow in it it makes no sound at all. when i go on ventrilo ( voice-chat program) it just comes through as static. i have no idea why it is doing this. i also downloaded the newest drivers, thinking the disc drivers were old. made no difference.

update, i fixed the microphone. new problem. my games keep crashing every 5-10 minutes. WoW gets error 132, counterstrike just freezes. very bad :(
