I recently completed a new build and everything runs great except there is no sound. I have looked in the Control Panel and it says I have no audio device. I have a set of speakers plugged in. Under 'Hardware' it lists the Audio Codecs and other drivers.
The system has a Gigabyte-P35-DS4 motherboard, Radeon 3850 video card, Antec 900 case, and 750w power. Is there something I need to download so that the system can see I have sound on the motherboard and use it? |

Re: No sound on new build
well when I Installed my Asus M2A-VM I experienced the same problem, Vista showed everything was there, but I got no sound. Then I thought about it, and I got my Software cd that came with my Motherboard and put it, and then installed it's audio driver and codec, and It worked just fine after that!!
I hope that this is your problem, and it is an easy fix like that , GOOD LUCK! |

Re: No sound on new build
bhahar84,
I followed the recommendation of Gigabyte and downloaded new chipset drivers and sound drivers from their site along with Windows UUA drivers. The device manager shows that the device is working properly and that the drivers are working. The seakers worked fine on my last computer so I am starting to wonder if it is an issue with the outputs on the motherboard. I have sent over 20 hours trying to fix the problem and almost am to the point of just buying a sound card and never buying Gigabyte again. |

Re: No sound on new build
bhahar84,
Thanks for the help as always, I wouldn't have been able to fix the issue without this site. I fixed the audio issue by disabling the audio in the bios and then downloading new drivers from Gigabyte and deleting the XP UUA drivers that were causing the issues. I then rebooted and enabled sound in the bios and the computer did the rest. Windows XP sucks!!! |
