Hello,
I have a P4 system running Windows XP and I have a Creative audigy 2 ZS sound card. I am getting static sound through my speakers and I can't find out why. I've tried different drivers from creative and Microsoft after uninstalling the software and drivers; the static is still there. Only when I unistall the drivers does the static go away, but of course then there is no sound when there should be. Help! |

Re: audigy 2 zs and static sounds
Try changing your sound card to be in the PCI slot furtherest away from the the CPU.

Re: audigy 2 zs and static sounds
I've been using an audigy 2 for a long time now and i find it to be extremely sensitive to FSB overclocking. Are you guys running it in overclocked systems? If so, try clocking down to default and see if that fixes it.
Also, the PCI slot furthest from the CPU may help too (as that other fellow stated) it did for me. another thing, try pulling out the card and giving it a cleaning. I just use coffee filters and gently wipe the entire thing down. Give the PCI slot a once over too. Last thought - If none of those 3 things help, check your connection wires for anything that could be causing electrical interference. Like, try to rout the wire away from your power supply, monitors or any other significant electrical source. In my years as a studio technician i found the number one cause of audio distortion to be a result of electrical interference. cheers |

Re: audigy 2 zs and static sounds
Reset the CMOS. IT is either a bad onboard memory or an IRQ conflict. The IRQ conflict can be helped with a CMOS reset, but bad memory requires RMA.
