Microphone Issues

Hello, I currently moved my computer to a different location, because of the holidays. My microphone was working when I left, but when I arrived it no longer worked. It sounds like it's muting or something. I just bought a new soundblaster audigy SE and it still sounds like it's muted or just not working. By the way, I have an old USB headset, which just the microphone works on it, but it still works while my regular headset does not. Also, I tried my headset on a friends macbook and I can hear myself talking on there, although it's very bad quality. So i guess im just not sure if windows can't pick up my microphone or what. If anyone has any ideas why this could be happening I would GREATLY appreciate it.

PS: I am running vista 64 bit, I cannot hear myself while testing my mic in ventrilo, vista voice recognition, or the bf2 voice setup.

Re: Microphone Issues

Do you think it could be any other setting in my sound settings?

Re: Microphone Issues

Same thing here - but my microsoft volume meter is barely registering my voice unless I'm either raising my voice, or placing the microphone practically against my lips in which case I sound like a heavy-breathing pervert.

Any ideas?

PS : What about somehow muting the one-second-later playback of my own voice over the speakers. That really bugs to hear myself in echo while I'm trying to express a thought. Thanks.
