Sound problems

Hello guys.

I need help regarding a rather weird problem involving my microphone. Well it sounds like an echo problem but it's much deeper than the "Volume too high, microphone picking up sounds from headphones".

Here's the problem : Every time my friend and I play games and use any convo programs (Skype, Msn, Teamspeak, Ventrilo) we both get echoes of our voices (mostly when we're jelling or laughing) and sometimes background music and game noises (if we have winamp/media player playing songs in the background, that too can be heard...clearly as hell).

At first i thought my volume was to high and the mic was picking up those sounds but after doing a test I was 100% sure it's not because of that

The test : I opened windows sound recorder, I recorded myself talking...Everything sounded ok (no echoes), then i did the same thing with music playing in the background. And the music was clearly heard on the recording. After that I lowered the Volume on my Headphones to zero (on the headphones themself...on a little button or whatever it is) so that I can be sure that the music wasn't being picked up by the mic...And wouldn't you know it, it still recorded the music, even though the mic didn't have anything to pick up...

My test clearly shows that my problem is much deeper than controling Volume :(

What I tried : Tinkering with the Volume Control (The background music could only be affected by lowering or rising Wave on playback and of course lowering and rising volume on winamp), Downloaded new drivers for my SC, circled through various convo software

I have a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9-RH motherboard, Nvidia Nforce4 Chipset

Realtek AC'97
Audio Driver Version : 5.10.0.6270
DirectX Version : 9.0c
Audio Controller : nVidia(0059)
Audio Codec : ALC850

and a new pair of Sharkoon Gamer Headset GHS1

*Another thing, my friend says it's normal to have a buzzing sound if i max the volume button on the headset...is that true? :S

I'm sorry for the large post :P, I would really appreciate any help in this matter, THANKS
