corrupt harddrive / no drivers at all!

my harddrive recently had a lot of bad sectors and corrupted. I had to buy a new harddrive in order to fix it. I lost my original system recovery CD for my laptop, so i just installed a new copy of windows xp pro. After searching for all the drivers online, I get stuck at finishing up with my sound card.

I ran Everest Scanner and it says I need the SIS 7012 Driver. I downloaded it off the website, but when installed, i get a error.
Am i installing the wrong driver? I haven't touched drivers in a long time and dont exactly remember which ones i need.

thats the error messages i get.

2nd message..

Re: corrupt harddrive / no drivers at all!

maybe your downloading the wrong version of the driver? have you tried to let Windows Update get the driver for you? it works sometimes like that... if nothing else works try some bios updates and then try installing that driver again.

did you go to the computers manufacturers website and download the drivers from there? If not, give that a try.

Re: corrupt harddrive / no drivers at all!

if you still have your old drive, and it still has the old install on it, install it as a slave drive.

Then install the sound install as normal but do a browse for the driver, point to the old drive c:windows\system32\drivers folder and let it search there for the driver.

Re: corrupt harddrive / no drivers at all!

I wouldn't imagine it would be that easy to set it up as a slave on a laptop. The easiest way to solve this is to go here http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca...xp/mobility-xp
