Hi, I have a HP compaq notebook which came with vista. I deleted vista and put XP Home on, but cannot find a audio driver. I says I have legacy audio but nothing I have tried works. Can anyone HELP??? please.

Re: Need a audio/sound driver
Hi, welcome to TSF
Go to the manufacturer's website and download the chipset drivers and Realtek audio drivers. Install and reboot.

Re: Need a audio/sound driver
HP is really VERY good with drivers. If the laptop's hardware is compatible for XP (I've seen many laptops that aren't...built for Vista
) Then HP would have a section for XP drivers, when you search for your laptop's Model. Also, did you make those Recovery DVDs from the partition BEFORE you reformatted to XP? the DVDs contain the specific drivers for the laptop...pulling the audio drivers from the recovery discs is worth a shot.
