My recording works but the play back doesn't work?

One day my play back doesn't work but my recording works, when I go into control panel, sound speech and audio devices, sound and audio devices. inside the volume tab every thing is gray and wont work but when i clicked on the Audio tab the recording device was workin. but then agian the play back device is not workin...it says 'no play back devices'. The device is enabled, It's installed properly (otherwise the recoding wouldnt work ), I've dusted and clean out the PCI slot and meida player says it wouldnt play becasue there might be somthin wrong with my sound device or not installed properly. Someone please help me out!!!

I also notice in sound and audio devices, hardware, legacy Audio Drivers then i clicked properties on it..then went to the properties tab...there was nothin in the bos...all the other things have at least one thing in the property box but that one didn't....(tellin you this becasue it may help..)
