mic trouble

I recently got a headset in order to have voice conversations online. I can hear through the headphones but the microphone is not functioning. I have Sound Blaster Live 24-bit .I tested my sound hardware but my voice is not being detected by the microphone. (>Control Panel> Sounds and Audio Devices) What's next?

only post the same problem once
check in the creative mixer the mike is not muted,it usually is by default
