My on-board or my old card?

I just got a couple new parts for my new computer, and my old computer has a sound card in it and I was wondering which would give me better sound quality or performance.

The mobo is a gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 (http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813128014) and the sound card is a X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1.

You wont have a problem with the onboard sound, but if you have the X-Fi laying around, you'd be better off using that vs onboard.

I agree with Slacker. Realteak is basically a "generic" brand, while Creative Labs are the leaders in the sound card industry.

I'd definitely go with the X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1.
